Acts 20:35

In everything I did, I showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words the Lord Jesus himself said " It is more blessed to give than to receive."
Last year around this time Abby, at only ten days old, was hospitalized at Children's Medical Center. We will never forget the kindness and warmth of the doctors and staff there. Dave and I decided that we should donate her birthday gifts this year and had an awesome turnout from friends and family. We were able to donate more than 50 gifts to the children. The staff was almost in tears when they saw how many toys there were.
Our bible study group has decided that we are going to try and donate 100 toys to the hospital this year. Here's the thing...we need your help!!! Many of us are so blessed to have happy healthy kids in our lives. Most of us have not had to wake up on Christmas morning in the hospital with a sick child. Also, most of us have never been that sick child waking up on Christmas morning in the hospital.
I know many people are struggling right now, so all we ask is that you pray about it and if you can give we joyfully and graciously accept the help! Remember, there are many great toys under $10, and Wal Mart will price match any advertised price.
We will come and pick the gifts up, so all you have to do is buy them. No need to wrap them either, see, it just gets easier and easier!!! Also, they do accept gift cards as well. Send me an email (edwells1014@yahoo.com) or respond to this post and let me know if you are up to the challenge. Thank you!!!

A little something I have learned along the way

Being a new mom has taught me a lot of things, here's a few I will share...

Being tired takes on a whole new meaning

Expect the unexpected...and then some

You can find humor in every situation, it just might not be right then

What was once a clean house now becomes clean...enough

Going to the bathroom alone really is a luxury

Some days I think that at any given moment Ashton Kutcher is going to pop out and tell me I am being punkd

I am pretty sure that my one year old could single handily take on an entire class of fifth graders in a food fight...and win!

Abby's Birthday

This is a continuation of the post below this, I just thought breaking it up a little would help keep you awake! I know,I am so thoughtful.
So, the night of Abby's birthday we have our family over for dinner and everything goes really good...until that night. I wake up at 1130pm(yes, we actually go to bed by ten these days) and I was pretty sure I was dying. From 1130-830am I am throwing up along with some other things. I literally was running on an hour of sleep by the time Dave was getting up to go to work. Poor Dave has to call in sick to work so he can take care of Abby. This was Wednesday and keep in mind her party was coming up on Saturday. We go to the doctor and she determines that I have food poisoning, which we were actually happy for since there is an awesome stomach bug going around that is highly contagious. She gives me a shot(which was the most painful thing in my life, and I have had an epidural and a c-section, this thing was a monster)which knocks me out so I can finally get some sleep. If you know anything about food poisoning you know that it last 72 hours, which brings us to Friday and let us not forget that I have to go grocery shopping and get the house clean for her party. On top of feeling like I have been hit by a semi at least a half a dozen times, I couldn't play with Abby. I literally had no strength left in me. It was probably the worst part of the whole thing. Finally Friday at 930pm I looked at Dave and told him that I went five whole minutes without feeling sick! I was still extremely exhausted Saturday, but her party was at a park and even though we had family come back to the house afterwards, I really didn't care that the house looked bad. Here are a couple of pictures from her party...

Her party was perfect! I am so glad I decided to have it in a park, I can't imagine having all that energy in my house!!! We donated her gifts to the children's hospital, not in the " Mommy Dearest" kind of way. The lady was almost in tears when she saw how many we had. I am so grateful to everyone who helped us do this, I know we helped out a lot of kids. It was a year ago Saturday that we were bringing our 10 day old precious baby girl to that same hospital because she had MRSA and she was so sick they had to put her on an IV and we were told that they were going to have to do surgery on her to get it all out. I am pretty sure that was one of the darkest times of my life. Now I look at her and see this happy, healthy toddler and I can't believe how far we have come! God is good and we are so blessed that he choose us to be her parents!

Getting Caught Up

I cannot believe it's already the second week of November. I had every intention of keeping this updated throughout October, but as you can see that idea failed! November has been such a relief following the craziness of October. We celebrated our fourth anniversary, dad's birthday, my birthday, and Abby's first birthday. So, here go the updates...
The first two weeks of October were so easy and relaxed. Back in Sept Dave was told that he would be going to Arkansas the week of our anniversary, but the company would pay for Abby and I to go there too. Awesome!!! Well, that didn't happen because the company up there didn't want to pay for a tech to be there the whole week. Plan B: Dave and I were going to go to Ft. Worth the weekend of the 9th and stay the night and go to a concert because someone had graciously given us backstage passes. My beautiful daughter who has never had a cold in her whole one year of life deiced that it was the perfect time to get one. Plan B quickly went out the window. The next few weeks were pure madness. Dave was working almost 80 hour weeks and we never saw him on the weekends. Sometime he would work a full day, come home and then have to leave at 930pm and work till 2 or 3am and then get up at 6 and work a full day. Honestly, I don't know how he did it. The day of our anniversary he went in early so that he could come home and have dinner with us. I cannot believe that it has been four years already. I feel like I just met him a few months ago in Oklahoma. I used to think that we were so different and it amazed me that our marriage worked so well. I see now that we are far more similar than we are different. Here's the thing, Dave and I couldn't care less about things...cars, jewelry, the newest electronics,clothes... we truly know and believe that money does not make you happy. We both try to put God first in our lives and try to do what is best for our family. We do have a lot of differences, but that is what make life interesting. I know and respect that Dave is the head of the house hold and in return he leads our family in a Christ like way. I am so happy that I get to spend the rest of my life with him. Like our pastor said " divorce is not an option, murder may be, but divorce is not"!
The week of my birthday was also crazy, in fact it really didn't feel like my birthday because I was trying to get everything organized for Abby's party and was still dealing with Dave's crazy schedule. The night of my birthday Dave made me brownies( i am not a cake person) and he and Abby decorated it for me...
That's true love, and there's nothing better than that!!!
