So I woke up this morning to the sound of the alarm clock and happened to glance at the date. September 1. Thank goodness!!! I am pretty sure there is something mentally draining about August. Nothing good (with the exception of grandmas birthday ) has ever come from August. It is hot, people are not in a good mood, and I am pretty sure we could skip the entire month and there wouldn't be much protest. I do however have a new found appreciation for Eskimos. Minus the whole animal blubber and having to kill your own breakfast, lunch, and dinner, I think I would do rather well. The down side to Sept. 1 is apparently it is hunting season. As I am sitting here typing this I hear what sounds like a firework show outside my window. Then Dave calls to inform me not to drive down Independence because of all the hunters. REALLY!?!?
Family update...Abby is in her second week of being ten months old. I know this because I get weekly e-mails telling me how old my child is along with tips on feeding her, bathing her, and my favorite: how to tell your baby loves you. Whew! Thank you for that or I would be in a state of sheer panic! Abby is doing awesome. She had her nine month check up last week, yes, all you math people it was on her ten month birthday, but with Dave's new job we were without insurance for a month. Her check up went well. She is still off the charts in height, still has a " good size head" as the doctor puts it, and is still way up there in weight. She is a constant source of laughter around here. She is constantly on the go and has non stop energy. The other day Dave said to me " I think she is snorting pixie sticks behind our back ". She does have quite the attitude/personality and we are still trying to figure out where that comes from. She lives off of cheerios and yogurt. I am not kidding, that is all she will eat! Lord help us if the dairy cows decide to ever go on strike or the cheerios plant goes down! Abby is such a blessing and I am so thankful that God let me be her mom. I make plenty of mistakes, but that's what it is all about. She gives me those big slobbery kisses every day ( that's one way to know your baby loves you ) and when all is said and done I know I have done my best and that's all I can do.
Dave is still enjoying his job and working his butt off, literally. He has lost over 25 lbs and is doing awesome. I truly don't know how he does it. He works 40+ hrs outside in this 106 degree temperature and never complains. On top of that, he comes home and takes over with Abby. My favorite part of the day is when he walks in the door. The smile on Abby's face could not be any bigger! The downside to his new job is that October for him is packed. If you know us, then you know we have something almost every weekend in October! I love Dave more than anything and I know how truly blessed I am to have such a good husband and wonderful father for Abby.
I am doing great. I love being able to stay home with Abby. There are "those" days, but for the most part it's perfect! August was a little rough, but we all go through that. I was starting to become this negative person who was so critical of everyone and everything. Things are much better now and I feel like myself again. It's amazing what prayer can do for you! Dave and I are reading the Bible almost every night before we go to bed and we are really trying to lead a Christ centered life. I am really looking forward to the start of our Bible study and the new book we are going to be reading. I stay pretty busy keeping Abby, Lucky and the cat alive and breathing and making sure everyone has been fed and watered. Sometimes I feel like I am living in a three ring circus! I will try to do better with keeping this updated and posting new pictures.
